About this stacked discount calculator

Retailers stack coupons and sale percents. This calculator applies discounts sequentially so you see the true effective savings.

How to use

  1. Enter original price.
  2. Enter up to three percent discounts in order.

Formula

Final = Price × (1−d1) × (1−d2) × (1−d3)

Worked examples

Example: $200 with 20% then 10% → $200 × 0.8 × 0.9 = $144 (28% effective off, not 30%).

Tips

  • Check whether tax applies before or after discounts.

Frequently asked questions

Why isn't 20% + 10% equal to 30% off?

The second discount applies to the already-reduced price, so the combined effect is less than the sum of the percents.
